MAXIME CITERNE
I have been involved in stamps since 1986. My initial passion focused on Russian stamps - including prephilately and Zemstvo - and has since expanded to encompass all Classic World Issues.
In addition to dealing, I work as a professional philatelist for the Global Philatelic Network. In particular, I collaborate with Heinrich Köhler in Wiesbaden - Germany´s oldest auction house - known for upholding some of the highest standards in the philatelic industry.

A deep interest in expertising, along with the mentorship of Mr Huylmans, led me to successfully pass the rigourous examnination of the German Federal Association of Philatelic Experts (BPP). I am certified for the test area Classic Russia 1858-1875.

Beyond philately, I am married and the father of two children. I also have a background in Chinese pharmacology, studied both in China and Europe, and run an activity as an alternative health care specialist in a private clinic alongside my philatelic activities.

OUR PHILATELIC STORY
1930s - The Beginning
.
Our family ´s philatelic journey begins with Gabriel Citerne (1901-1981). Invited to visit the Soviet Union in the 1930s, Gabriel made several trips that would ultimately spark a lifelong passion. During one such visit at the Leningrad Postal Museum, Gabriel was gifted a cut-out from a sheet of Russia´s first imperforated stamp - printed on the rare watermarked "1" paper. This gesture became the catalyst for a deep and enduring commitment to philately.

Gabriel became the first president of the Cercle Philatélique France-URSS in 1952, and later, a founding member of the Association Internationale des Journalistes Philatélique (AIJP) in 1962. He also served as an editor-in-chief and publisher for three specialist catalogues (1956, 1964 & 1969), co-authored with renowned philatelists Serge Rockling (Romeko) and Michel Liphschutz RDP.

Following in my grandfather´s footsteps, I began collecting at the age of 10 and exhibiting inflation-era postal history in my hometown at age 14. Today, the passion also lives on through my son Victor, who is building his own collection - focused on the first issue of the German Empire on covers (the iconic 1872 Brustschild).

Three generations and almost 100 years later, our family continues to honour the philatelic tradition Gabriel began - driven by curiousity, discovery and a shared love of history through stamps.
