SOVIET AIRMAIL CENTRAL ASIA: DUSHAMBE - TASHKENT LINE
Dushambe 1928 (17 April) - Domestic Registered envelope to Turtkul (ex Petro-Alexandrovsk, actual Uzbekistan), sent via the CENTRAL ASIA line DUSHAMBE - TASHKENT. Correctly franked at the 33k registered airmail rate (13k airmail + 10k registration, tariff of 11 February 1926). Superb strikes of the bilingual handstamps, including arrival Turtkul 21 May 1928. Very rare blue label "TAKE CARE OF YOUR GAS MASK ...". Very Fine.
From Dushambe, the mail was carried by air until Tashkent, where it was transfered to the railway Tashkent - Moscow line to Kzyl Orda. From Kzyl Orda transfer by surface until Turtkul. See Ackerman (p.294)
Very scarce Soviet Airline route especially in the 1920s, with a fine combination of airmail and railway transport in Soviet Central Asian region.
