SOVIET UNION 1941 PAINTER VASILY SURIKOV (1848-1916): 1 RUBLE ON COVER
Molotorsk Arkhangelsk region 1944 (15 April) - Foreign registered envelope to Baltimore (USA), correctly franked at 1,30 roubles with 1939 30k paratrooper (defective) & 1941 1 Ruble green SURIKOV (tariff of 1st May 1936). Soviet military censor, transit postmarks and arrival Baltimore 18 July 1944. Very Fine.
A very scarce stamp used on genuine mail. This envelope with a three months routing was probably sent via some Murmansk artic convoy (the letter was originally written from Murmansk). A great WWII item.
