RUSSIA ROMANOV : POSTAL FRAUD STAMP USED TWICE
Lodz, 1913 (25 February) - International reply Romanov 3k card, correctly uprated at 4k (tariff of 8 March 1889) with Romanov 1k orange-red PREVIOUSLY USED. The original stamp was lifted up and replaced by a used one, the Lodz canceller applied to conceal the previous cancellation. Some foxing on the adhesive.
Scarce postal fraud usage of a Romanov stamp. Blatant case of fraud by the postal clerk of the Lodz office, who pocketed the 1 kopek.
